Anna Leigh Ashford

Annaleigh Amanda Ashford was born in America. The actress is an actor or singer, as well as dancer. She started her Broadway career with musicals like Wicked, Legally Blonde and Hair. The actress was awarded an award from the Tony Award for Best Featured actor in a Play in the role of Essie Carmichael in You Can't Take It With You. This film is a Hulu Original and will be streamed on Disney DTC. Ashford's Broadway return will take place on March 20, 2023. He is paired with Josh Groban for the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre revival of Stephensondheim's Sweeney Todd. Thomas Kail as director and Jeffrey Seller as producer will be the creative team for the production. Ashford has most recently played Paula Jones in the new Ryan Murphy FX series American Crime Story Impeachment based on the crisis in America that picked up Paula Jones Monica Lewinsky and Linda Tripp as principal characters for the first impeachment proceedings in over a century. Her two seasons on CBS comedy B Positive was her first significant role. It was produced by Chuck Lorre with Marco Pennette. The show featured Linda Lavin, Hector Elizondo, and Ben Vereen. Ashford is no stranger to Broadway. Her portrayal of Essie on You Can't Take It with You was a winner of the Tony Drama Desk Awards and Outer Critics Circle Awards. Sunday in the Park starring George Wicked and Legally Blonde is among her other Broadway credits. Ashford was raised and born in Denver and now divides the time in Los Angeles, and New York.
